UK Business Angels Assocation

We strive to build and connect the investment ecosystem, creating a coherent and diverse landscape for financing high-potential entrepreneurs across the whole of the UK.

Our members include angel groups, individual investors, early-stage VCs, equity investment platforms, family offices, universities and accelerators.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, run by and for our members. We are Code Partners for the government-led Investing in Women Code, leading the data collection progress for angel signatories.

We launched the Women Backing Women in 2022 through the Women Angel Investment Taskforce. The campaign is an initiative sprung out of the Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship to increase the number of women becoming angel investors and to expand the female angel ecosystem across the UK. The taskforce is led by Jenny Tooth OBE, Executive Chair of the UK Business Angels Association and Yvonne Greeves, Director of Women in Business at NatWest Group operates as co-chair.

The Women Backing Women campaign is a flagship project led by the Women Angel Investment Taskforce to inspire, educate and support women across the UK to become business angels and early-stage investors. By increasing the number of female angels, the campaign’s intention is that more female founders across the UK will have a better chance to access funding to scale their business, wherever they are based. This mission feeds into the Rose Review’s target to increase funding allocation to women in the UK and to create an environment which encourages and enables 600,000 more women to found businesses by the end of the decade.

The Women Backing Women campaign collaborates with angel investor groups and key ecosystem players already working on the ground across the UK, including in Wales, Scotland and the North, who know their regional and national landscape better than anyone else.

Our Work

We work to build better connectivity across the investment landscape through our programme of events, our online investment platform and our network of angel hubs.

Through research and collaboration, we work with industry to define market challenges and champion change to government, opinion formers and business leaders.

From providing market intelligence on key trends to reporting on new developments in the investment landscape, we raise awareness and understanding of early-stage investing as an asset class.

We upskill and professionalise both the investor and founder community through e-learning courses, workshops and roundtables. Improving the capacity to effectively deploy, and successfully raise, early-stage capital.
