The UBS Female Founder Award ceremony took place live on LinkedIn on the 14th December announcing Ana Mahony, Addition Wealth, as this year’s winner.
Mélanie Keïta, Melanin Kapital, who was also named this year’s Rising Star. The UBS Female Founder Award recognizes outstanding achievements by female entrepreneurs in fintech and enterprise tech and is judged on their commitment to diversity, financial record, potential and leadership.
Ana will receive a cash prize of USD 10,000, and along with the other finalists, an opportunity to take part in our exclusive accelerator training program, Project Female Founder.
A 2021 UBS report entitled, “The Funding Gap – Investors and female entrepreneurs,” found that female founders and entrepreneurs receive less funding than their male counterparts. As a result, women are lacking in equal opportunities to innovate and build successful companies that contribute to the global economy. Furthermore, there is an abundance of evidence to suggest that female founders and entrepreneurs, who receive funding, develop businesses that perform as well, or even better, than their male counterparts, which suggests investors are missing out on attractive investment opportunities.
Previous winners of the award include Kimberley Abbott, Founder and CEO of Vested Impact and Danielle Lawrence-Sandhu, Founder and CEO of Freyda.
