One of a series of talks arranged by York University, focusing on the stories of women, from all sectors and levels of business. The speaker is Cherie Federico, founder of Aesthetica Magazine.

These talks focus on the stories of women, from all levels of business and within a wide variety of business contexts, considering how they have overcome social bias and barriers to business. All are welcome to attend.

Emma Brown – University of York

Emma has worked at the University for over a decade, supporting the transfer of academics’ knowledge and research through spinning out, licencing, collaboration and networking. She has also worked with numerous academics to frame the benefits their research can bring and to figure out the best route to engage external organisations with this research.

Cherie Federico – Aesthetica Magazine

Cherie co-founded Aesthetica Magazine in 2002 while studying for her Masters. The first issue of Aesthetica  was published in March 2003 with a credit card and since then the magazine has become one of the leading British art and culture publications with 500,000 readers across print, digital and social media. The publication is exported to 20 countries.

Cherie is the Director of the Aesthetica Short Film Festival, which is a BAFTA-Qualifying festival and screens films from over 40 countries, as well as attracting key industry from across with sector. She is also Director of the Aesthetica Art Prize, which champions new talent and has 4,500 applications from artists across the world. Cherie holds an Honorary Doctorate from University of the Arts, London.
